What is A+ Content (and why it matters)?

By Bens Az · Getting Started · 6 min read

A+ Content is Amazon's enhanced product detail section — a row of visual modules (images, comparison charts, lifestyle photography, brand story) that appears below the standard book description on your Amazon listing.

For KDP authors enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry or using KDP's A+ Content Manager, it's one of the highest-leverage conversion levers available — and one of the most underused.

Why does A+ Content matter?

Buyers scrolling Amazon listings make a buy/skip decision in seconds. A plain text description gives them very little to evaluate. A+ Content gives them:

Amazon's own data shows A+ Content can lift conversion by up to 20% on average — and the ceiling is much higher for niches where competitors aren't using it.

"Books with optimized A+ Content consistently outperform plain listings in the same niche. It's not the cover and not the title — it's the proof you offer below the fold."

What does a great A+ Content module look like?

Every BensAz package follows the same conversion-first structure:

  1. Hook module — visual + headline that reframes the buyer's problem
  2. What's inside — concrete preview of the book's content
  3. Who it's for — explicit positioning against buyer intent
  4. Comparison or feature grid — why this book over the alternatives
  5. Author / brand module — credibility + the soft CTA to buy

Common mistakes

Most DIY A+ Content suffers from the same problems:

Do you need it?

Short answer: if your book has been live for more than two weeks and you don't have A+ Content set up, you're leaving conversions on the table. The lift is real, the cost is one-time, and the modules persist for the life of your listing.
